Following the match against Empoli FC, manager Alessandro Diamanti went to the press room at the Orogel Stadium-Dino Manuzzi to answer questions from the journalists present.
“We’d been missing a win and it showed, but now we need to keep our feet on the ground. As I said after the Modena match, I was expecting a fierce response today and at times we delivered it. We certainly made too many technical errors, but in the end we fought tooth and nail to take home three points. It’s a real confidence boost, something the lads have been keen on for a long time. I’ll say it again: the lack of those three points was really being felt, and I’m delighted for them, because in my view they deserved it. I’m also very pleased for our supporters, who can finally celebrate at home too.”
“After Modena, I fielded the players I felt were most ready, knowing, of course, that there’s another battle coming up on Saturday. We managed a couple of players, but those who needed to play did so and, in my view, they did well – although there’s plenty of room for improvement. As was the case at certain points in the match, where we really needed to do much better: as I said before, we made too many mistakes tonight and, I’ll say it again, we need to be more in control. However, I liked the reaction, because we were ready for the second balls and won a lot of 50-50 challenges. Unfortunately, we then made a mistake that immediately cost us a goal, but the team showed determination and managed to get back into the game.”
