At the press room of the Orogel Stadium-Dino Manuzzi, Head Coach Alessandro Diamanti discussed the upcoming match between Benevento Calcio and Cesena FC, part of Matchday 6 of the 2026/27 Serie BKT season, scheduled for Saturday, October 10, at 3:00 p.m. at the “Ciro Vigorito” Stadium in Benevento.
“It was a long break from which we benefited immensely. The fire never went out, and this morning I congratulated the guys because it’s no small feat to go two weeks without a game and handle it the way they did. But I’ll include us too—the staff and everyone—because we approached it with incredible energy, an amazing spirit, and a level of motivation as if, on Sunday, instead of having the day off, we were playing the most important game of our lives. That’s something that made us very happy, and I acknowledged it.”
“Benevento is a team that won the league last year, has been playing together for a long time, and has a coach who’s been there all along, so they have well-established principles. They have a lot of enthusiasm and a wonderful fan base. It’ll be a very tough game, but like every other one—we know that, and the guys know it too. The spirit, energy, motivation, enthusiasm, and desire to fight will be the same as always, because this is an identity we’ll carry with us throughout the entire season. I’ll say it again: it will definitely be a tough match, because Benevento is having a strong season, just like many other teams.”
“Aside from Schirone, who was already dealing with a bit of groin pain and whom we’re keeping on a slightly more restricted schedule as a precaution, and Caprini, who has returned to training on the field, the guys are all ready, fit, and available to compete for a spot—because over the past three weeks they’ve really put me in a tough spot, which is a wonderful challenge to face, but a challenge nonetheless. So we’ll focus on the details and select the starting eleven and the twenty or twenty-two players who’ll travel with us. Because, as I’ve told the guys repeatedly, especially in today’s soccer, it’s no longer just the eleven who start the game—it’s the entire team. Everyone, when they come on, must be part of the cause and make their contribution: they have the same information—exactly the same—as the guys who start the game. Whether they play 40 minutes, 30 minutes, 20 minutes, one minute, or five seconds, they must give their all for the cause, and I’m sure they will.”
