Following the match against FC Südtirol, Coach Alessandro Diamanti headed to the mixed zone at “Druso” Stadium to discuss the game against the South Tyroleans.
“We dominated the game from the first minute to the 90th, but we paid dearly for that first individual mistake. Then we got back on track, playing our game and creating chances. Today we lacked that finishing touch, and we need to be more ruthless — I say this every day during the week: we need to be more ruthless in front of the goal. After falling behind, we did a great job of equalizing, and we could even have won. It’s disappointing because we played 95 minutes really well, showing great team identity and spirit. It wasn’t easy, because we’d expended a lot of energy to secure the win on Tuesday night, but let’s take the positives from today and address the areas we need to improve. We have another home game on Saturday, and we need to make the most of it.”
“We need to limit our mistakes, because our track record since the start of the season shows that as soon as we make a mistake, our opponents punish us, while we need to create six or seven chances just to score a goal. Still, the guys played a great game today, and I feel bad for them. In my opinion, on Tuesday we didn’t play well but still got the three points; today, on the other hand, we played very well but weren’t able to secure the win. That’s soccer — we know it — and, as always, we need to analyze the match objectively and get back to work.”
