Following the match against Mantova 1911, Coach Alessandro Diamanti went to the press conference room at Orogel Stadium-Dino Manuzzi to answer questions from the journalists in attendance.
“We started the first thirty minutes with great intensity and strong possession, but they scored on a set piece. From there, the game changed, but we never changed our approach. I think we played a great game, both with and without the ball: positive and with heart, soul, and strategy. I’m very happy and very pleased. I’m sorry the guys didn’t take home the full three points—and this is already the second time it’s happened—but honestly, if we put in performances like this, I have zero concerns.”
“The contribution of the substitutes? I always tell the guys this, and unfortunately, the game is played with eleven players—I can’t change the rules. I told the guys on the bench today that they’d have to step up, because when it’s this hot, it’s normal for the heat to take its toll, especially since we play such an physically demanding style of soccer. Every now and then, we tried to slow the game down a bit with the goalkeeper to regain possession. I think there are two ways to regain possession—without the ball and with the ball—and we wanted to regain it with the ball so we could keep pushing forward. I believe everyone who was called upon played a great game, and I think those who were on the bench and didn’t get the chance to come in cheered on their teammates as if they were on the field. This is who we are: a united group that moves forward with strength, positivity, and calm every day.”
