Following the match against Juve Stabia, Coach Alessandro Diamanti headed to the mixed zone at the “Romeo Menti” Stadium in Castellammare di Stabia to comment on the game against the Gialloblù.
“We need to be more ruthless when we have such important chances. We played a fantastic first half, taking a well-deserved lead, and in the second half we had three or four chances to seal the deal. By failing to do so, we gave Juve Stabia momentum and energy in a passionate stadium, and we sat back a little too much. We could have done better, because I think we let our emotions get the better of us, but we’re still on a journey, and we know we need to keep working and learn to close out these games—because tonight, those three points would have been well-deserved.”
“Overall, I’m satisfied because, as I always say, the guys work with enthusiasm, professionalism, and incredible determination—and that’s the starting point. However, in my opinion, this isn’t the first time we’ve put in a great performance but failed to close out the game and bring home the three points. The regret is for the players and for the fans who followed us on this long road trip. We would have liked to get three points here, and we’d prepared very well, playing at a very high level. I’ll say it again: we need to close out games and manage the final moments better, maintaining more control of the ball. We mustn’t let our emotions get the better of us, but, as I said, we’re on a path we’re working on, and we’re happy with what we’re doing.”
“I’m very happy that this break is coming because we’ll have the chance to work with a good group of players who, unfortunately, weren’t able to participate in preseason training with us, and to further instill our principles. For us, it will be a sort of mini-preseason, because many players have arrived—through no fault of their own—without having completed preseason training with their previous teams. It will be two weeks during which we’ll work, as always, calmly and with great enthusiasm.”
