Cesena FC announces that it has appointed Alessandro Diamanti as head coach of the first team. The new bianconero coach has signed a contract through June 30, 2028.
Born in Prato in 1983, Diamanti developed his soccer skills with his hometown club before quickly making his way to Serie A. In the top league, he distinguished himself through his technical ability and personality, earning a place among the most recognizable attacking midfielders in Italian soccer over the past two decades: from his Serie A debut with Livorno to his stints with Atalanta, Bologna, and Palermo, as well as spells with Brescia and Fiorentina, he has made a total of 200 appearances in Serie A.
Throughout his career, he also played for West Ham United and Watford in the Premier League, as well as for the Italian national team, for which he made a total of 17 appearances and took part in the 2012 European Championship.
After concluding his playing career with stints abroad in China, at Guangzhou Evergrande, and in Australia, at Melbourne City, Diamanti immediately and determinedly embarked on his coaching career, leading the Australian club’s Under-23 team for two seasons and, in the meantime, earning his UEFA Pro license at the Federal Technical Center in Coverciano.
The entire Cesena FC family is delighted to welcome coach Alessandro Diamanti as head coach of the bianconero first team and extends a warm welcome to him in Cesena, wishing him every success in this new adventure.
