Cesena FC Primavera closes out the regular season with a 1-2 comeback victory on the road against SS Lazio Primavera in the match valid for the 38th round of the league. Goals by Galvagno and Lantignotti proved decisive, allowing the Bianconeri to complete the comeback and take home all three points.
Lazio got off to a strong start and broke the deadlock in the 11th minute when Bordoni capitalized on a lapse in the Bianconeri defense to put the Biancocelesti ahead. The hosts maintained a good pace and continued to press, but the Cavalluccio responded with character and solidarity.
The Bianconeri grew stronger as the minutes passed, creating danger first through Poletti on a free kick and then through Galvagno, who, set up by Berti, scored the well-deserved equalizer in the 30th minute, restoring parity at the end of an intense first half-hour. The match remained lively, played at a high tempo with constant shifts in momentum. In the 35th minute, Lazio nearly regained the lead through Ferrari, who rose highest to meet a cross from Milillo, but Gianfanti responded with a sharp save. At the other end, Amadori tried his luck with a powerful left-footed shot from distance, but failed to trouble D’Alessio.
In the second half, the balance remained intact and chances came and went at both ends, with both teams determined to take all three points. Just as the match seemed headed for a draw, the decisive moment arrived in the 84th minute: a foul on Wade in the box resulted in a penalty kick for Cesena. From the spot, Lantignotti remained ice-cold and sealed the 2-1 victory, handing the Bianconeri a precious win at the end of a hard-fought match that went down to the wire.
Having finished the regular season in third place in the standings, Coach Campedelli’s Bianconeri are ready to dive into the final phase of the Primavera 1 championship. Thanks to their tournament finish, the Cavalluccio youngsters will host Inter, who finished sixth, in the first round of the final phase, scheduled for Friday, May 22, at a time yet to be determined. This match, scheduled as a single-elimination game with no extra time or penalty kicks, will determine who advances to the Final Four for the Italian Championship title, which will be held between Sunday, May 24, and Thursday, May 28, at the “Rocco B. Commisso Viola Park” Sports Center in Bagno a Ripoli (FI).
